A very cool image of a person's inner world from a psychological point of view. Maybe no one will appreciate it, but I just lit up after watching it!!!
Many games explore whether violence is learned or latent. Some say the environment turns you. Others say war reveals who you always were. Some protagonists could leave but stay, because klling is easier than facing themselves. And when a game asks "Do you like hurting other people?", it's usually less of a moral interrogation and more of an edgy line of dialogue.
Games often deindividualize vctims, and sometimes the player too. The protagonist is a voiceless body, a mask with no name. That design choice can make violence feel weightless, but it doesn't mean the player internalizes it. It just means the game is built that way.
People play for many reasons. Boredom, stress relief, laughing with friends, blowing off steam. Sometimes they skip cutscenes and cause chaos because the physics engine is funny. The violence isn't a philosophical trap in those moments. It's just something to do. And morality systems often reduce ethics to a resource bar: be a saint, destroy a village, do a few good deeds, reset your alignment. Morality becomes a mechanic to optimize, not a mirror to face.
So what do games actually reveal about human nature? Less than some critics want, more than the dismissive it. They reveal that people adapt, that reward systems can normalize cruelty, that boredom motivates more than ideology, and that a morality bar is not a soul.
But all of this is just a game, right? Sometimes that phrase is denial. But sometimes it's just accuracy. Sometimes a game is just a game, played by a bored person on a Tuesday, and the only thing it reveals is that we like to press buttons and watch things explode.
I want external opinions, all of this is just me ranting about topics and polishing it to post it.
Id say that Video games dont actually reveal whether violence is learned from an environment or built into us, It more shows how we adapt to rules of a system.
If a game turns morality into an alignment bar (like RDR2) or treats enemies like nameless targets, it just proves how easy it is to by any empathy when there aren't any actual consequences. So i think that if a player becomes more violent or harsh towards the NPC's its more that they are just adjusting and learning to play by the systems incentives. But some games also provides rewards for either causing more harm or less which can also sway the players actions.
So i think games reveal more about human curiosity rather than violence, People enjoy having a playground of no consequences and just pressing buttons.
I was tired as shit and woke up this morning talking bout sum stompa to my roommate who, mind you, has absolutely no idea what Warhammer is, so I just said 'go grab me the stompa' while half conscious, and fell asleep again ten seconds later
A mob to a king is either a worry or an annoyance. A king to a god is a nuisance. And a god to a nonbeliever is a story that people tell themselves to validate stupid or evil actions or just make themselves feel better.
We spend our lives pretending we are separate from one another, yet we all carry the same quiet reality... the knowledge that everything we love is temporary. We build relationships, live routines, learn, knowing, eventually, everything you've worked for will be for naught. And still, every morning, we begin again. Perhaps this is what it truly means to be a person, to know, with absolute certainty, that nothing can be kept, and to love it unconditionally. Cherish what you have, for you never know when it will be gone.
The "every morning, we begin again" bit reminded me of a chapter on lies and hope in World War Z. You are just a genius, so are a lot of people. Everyone can be good, and try, and help each other because we are all in the same boat we need to work together.
and wouldn't it be ironic if that started here? What if we tried to help and save and love instead of hate and deface and stuff? We could change the world. If we all just give it a try.

Time does not destroy things, it simply refuses to let them stay the way they were. And perhaps that death always is, and always will be, the final form we as people can take.
"There was this guy with white hair who couldn't his name, only that it rhymed with 'Time' so he started calling himself Time. We were standing on a ship, and I offered him an orange for an interesting conversation. Peeling the orange, he said 'Things are not set in stone, but they are set in a dirt road. If you keep to the same path over and over, it will soon be the only path you can take without struggling.'" Rough approximation, but the meaning is still there.

Even so I know there are things I'll only understand when I'm older.

I'm going to krill myself. Typed out 3 responses and forgot to censor krill in all of them. Screw this, I ain't typing that shit again.
Speaking facts so hard they have to silence you.
Something something undertale, something something hating self for picking mean dialogue option, something something deindividualization
I blame the whole gay umbrella, furries, and brazilians
Agreed up until Brazilians.
I would say the brazilians are the worst of the 3, worse than a lot of groups on this planet
could you elavorate?
I play milsims, and those 3 are always the most brutal with a weird vibe. Would give examples, but the censors keep tripping
Don't you think this could be a case of visibility and confirmation bias?
Maybe you're ing the loudest experiences instead of the average ones, and then noticing the ones that confirm the pattern.
Yes

What’s a mob to a king? What’s a king to a god? What’s a god to a non-believer?
A mob to a king is either a worry or an annoyance. A king to a god is a nuisance. And a god to a nonbeliever is a story that people tell themselves to validate stupid or evil actions or just make themselves feel better.

Only god knows what will be tomorrow, enjoy what you have

Holy shit was I sleep deprived. I still like this idea, but holy hell.

See that’s why you pull this stunt no biggie

See, this is what I love about this site, you have the closet philosophers/geniuses and then you have just some random people. The mix is so funny.
(there are also the genuine idiots and disgusting people, but they are not relevant here)
Fr brotha I can either drop some bars Or be funky fresh🤙🤘🏼🔥
Alright, I'm going to go through one-time-I-dreamt until they say something philosophical.

Shot in the dark, but I bet the original dreamer of that watched the kurzkesat video on habit building of something similar.
If they talk behind your back, fart.
They will snif on it.

I was going to say son of a bitch, but didn't want to insult you or anything.
Happy Halloween everyone!
The smell will drive them away
