In general, no. You can make sure no one lives to tell while not being stealthy. You can also be stealthy by avoiding detection and no one knowing in the first place. So, no.
Yeah I guess in that way it isn’t stealth. But I’m thinking when you try to be stealth but fuck it up and then eliminate any witnesses. According to Google that’s called Russian Stealth.
What does it say about our society (I am speaking as an American, so this may or may not be localized) that the apparently hottest topic after Halloween is No Nut November?
FUCK no. hate it. nothing interesting, crackheads everywhere, I've quite literally seen every square inch of the streets by now. cant take a bus without seeing someone off their face at the bus station. hell someone got stabbed there a few weeks ago. fucking shithole.
Yes and no. Fantastic shops and restaurants, great surrounding area, great 'small-town downtown' vibes. But there are also some really bad drivers and the traffic is horrendous in tourist season. Advice: walk/bike everywhere and check every possible direction before crossing a road. Then check again.
Happiness is a trap. It makes you forget how cruel life can be. It makes you believe that maybe, just maybe, things might actually work out for once. But it never lasts forever. Sooner or later, something takes it away. People leave. Things fall apart. The life you thought you’d have becomes a life you barely recognize. And the smarter you are, the sooner you realize that every good thing comes with an expiration date.
Eventually, you stop fearing the day happiness ends and start fearing the day it begins. Because once you’ve experienced what it feels like to have everything, you know exactly what it feels like to lose it. And after a while, you’d rather live your entire life feeling nothing than experience a moment of happiness you’ll spend the rest of your life mourning.
Just had my entire fucking essay deleted because I switched tabs to check that I didn't get too tangential. I will answer this, just need some patience.
First off, I am terribly sorry that you have had experiences that shaped you this way. But that's the neat part about being human, you are always more than your past, better than your present, and making your future. The way you phrased it seems to me like it is a personal relationship that fucked up, feel free to correct if you wish, so I will try to argue it as such. Firstly, props to Zeraora, he wrote part of this for me. Secondly, the best way to deal with emotional pain is people. I believe that people, taken as a whole, are good and righteous. It doesn't feel that way with how the world appears. But when did the everyday kindness of man make headlines. Do not just focus on the hurt, on the hatred, sadness, whatever. Focus on what part of that made you happy. Focusing on the positive aspects will stimulate recovery and generally improve most parts of life. Why keep your eyes on the suffering? Why keep them turned away from the cause? You can only feel that great hurt, the hurt of happiness and hope not just letting you down but dropping you, because you were happy. And ignoring or avoiding happiness is worse. You also push out contentment and peace with it. All you manage is to hurt yourself even more. Dance with the limp, find the joy in the hurt. In short, be positive. I choose to believe that everything will be okay, and if it isn't okay, then it isn't the end. Try that, try to trust that. It starts with trust, the crux of the matter. Trust opens you to more happiness, yet it also leaves you open to far greater pain. Life without trust is bleak and terrifying, yet only trust causes naught but pain. If you don't think you can trust anyone, trust these words. Trust me. Trust us. We will not let you down we are here for you, or anyone who needs help. Believe there is good in the world. BE THE GOOD IN THE WORLD. I hope everyone here... just has a good day, a good week, a good month, a good year, and a great life. May you find love, trust, mercy, and peace. God bless us, every one.
This probably made zero sense. I'm tired as shit. Goodnight. God bless.
why act so down about it? enjoy the happiness while it lasts. don't dread whats coming, it'll only let you expect that it's going to be worse than it is. look upon life as a gift, rather than a burden, you were chosen. nobody else, you! you were chosen to live the life you have. think of bad times as an experience. always think 'its going to be better'. if you do, you'll see happiness in the smallest things. find a penny? lucky you! the sun is shining? what a time to be alive! it's raining? the plants are growing!
don't expect less if you deep down, wish for so much more. no human ever stops dreaming, make those dreams who you are. not who you could be. yearn for the dream of happiness. if you don't dream it, you'll never experience it.
You're not wrong that everything ends. You're wrong that the ending is the point.
I hear what you're saying, and it comes from somewhere real. Losing something good hurts more than never having it, and anyone who's been through that knows the fear you're describing. It makes sense to want to protect yourself from that.
But I want to ask you something. You said you'd rather feel nothing than feel happiness you'll mourn. So let me ask: have you actually tried feeling nothing? Because it doesn't work the way you're describing. You don't get peace. You get a low hum of fear that never turns off. You spend your life watching for the thing that will hurt you, and that watching is its own kind of pain.
You're right that good things end. But so does the fear. So does the numbness. Nothing you're feeling right now is permanent either. You're not choosing between "happiness that ends" and "peace that lasts." You're choosing between two things that both end, and one of them is worth having.
I'm not going to tell you to be happy. I'm just asking whether the thing you're calling safety is actually safety, or just a different kind of pain that's easier to predict.
I made a new friend today. Imma sound like a kind3rgartener for a bit, I just a littl3 happy autist right now. So me and a coworker were going to the cafeteria for lunch. We had seen each other around, talked at functions, things like that. I speed ahead a little and get there first. I am just ahead of him in line and grab the last coffee off the tray. He grumbles, goodnaturedly, about it and I, jokingly, say "First come first serve."
He pauses a second and says, "Is that a reference to that one mediocre comic?"
So we sit together at a table, discuss this and that, find out we have a lot in common.
I now have a good friend and a fellow MTG and TTRPG enthusiast to discuss things with.
Try to connect with everyone you can. Who knows what can happen? Isn't it just a wonderful world we live in?
So rereading this with a full nights sleep (I usually surf around this site for a few minutes right before falling asleep) it is mostly right, more complicated, but same general message. Just a few incorrect details. Still, make friends and connect, 99% of the time, you will not regret it.
I’d argue, as long as your definition of happiness revolves around emotions assosciated with dopamine, a person can in fact be happy in your hypothetical. Either in the case where social frameworks are built up and intentionally discarded, or in the case where they are never present, the subject is still able to derive pleasure from the selfish and individualistic. I know I have gone lonv periods of time without thinkinv of any other person and been happy all the while.
Humans are fundamentally extraordinarily social creatures, while true that you could do selfish and self centered things to stay happy for a short time it ultimately would be for nought as after an extended amount of time alone the mind begins to, well, go insane as well as rapidly raises the risk of severe depression, chronic anxiety, cognitive fatigue, and paranoia...
Right in a case where they were never present we'd either have a caveman or someone raised in a sterile enviroment and only getting their information about basic knowledge by a very filtered source that somehow removes the human factor of the information.
In a case where they've been discarded I don't really see a way on how they'd survive without establishing a new one.
Happiness requires social formation, but not necessarily ongoing social density. A person needs enough social structure to have become a person, and then enough to keep being one. How much that second part is depends on the person.
Yeah my initial question was flawed from the get-go I just wanted to see more nuanced takes.
My follow up question would've been how much human connection is needed and if there is even a way to sterilize it but I can assume your answer from this reply

Does it still count as stealth if nobody lives to snitch?

Can a Individual truly be happy without the basic structure of social settings?

If you boil happiness down to a chemical, what's the point of living atp? Fuck it yk, go full psychonautic and d!e fr
No, not really.

I can expand on it if you wish.
But yeah, I guess you can already tell.
Humans go crazy in solitary confinement, if that's what you mean.
They would have to be constantly stimulated by a threat of some sort otherwise they’d go insane
